Design, Build and Commissioning of a 45,000 tonnes per year in-vessel composting plant. The facility is designed to process a mixture of Food and Garden Organics (FOGO) street sweepings and other food wastes. Scope of works consist of 4 composting tunnels and central air and water management systems, including acid scrubbers and biofilters. All controlled and monitored through WTT’s fully automated SCADA system, ensuring the composting system meets Australian Standards and EPA requirements. Each tunnel batch is transferred to the maturation area for final curing.

It means food and green organic waste produced by Melbourne residents will not end up in landfill and will instead produce high-grade compost.

MECBIO also supported by supplying and installing the shredding equipment and providing professional Technical support to most aspects of authority approvals.

The project includes ongoing maintenance and optimisation support for the following years.
